If There's a Will, There's a Way

Where would you be if you took that leap of faith?

The Will!

Imagine if you asked for that promotion or moved to that distant land. Imagine if you'd ask that person out when the opportunity arose. Imagine if you started building that skill or worked toward that goal last year. Where would you be?

Your Will is the foundation to everything you do. It's your motivation to move forward. Your inspiration to action. Your drive to fulfill personal promises. Like the Honey Badger charging headlong into a bee's nest to retrieve that liquid gold of sweet sustenance. Your Will is your greatest ally. The stings of the bees are your doubts and fears. But your resilience will drive you forward to your goals.

Every other Mind Power will fall flat without the Will to act. There's no way around it. There are two imbalanced extremes of the Will. People that over act and people that under act. Let me explain. Your Will is right action. It's not acting for its own sake or not acting at all.

As we talked about in the last Letter - your Mind has two qualities. Active and Passive. When balanced with one another your Will is guided. When one acts from external forces this causes in imbalance of the Active quality. When one is too afraid to act at all this causes an imbalance of the Passive quality.

You know these people... The Hustle Bros, no time to rest, you have to make gains. And the people that doom scroll content, work a job/get paid hourly and blow off steam with some Ben & Jerry's and Netflix.

Both are fatal to the balance of your Mind. Now don't get me wrong... Meeting your goals and resting with some ice cream and a movie is not a bad thing. It becomes bad when it's the only thing you're doing. You need to move forward in order not to stagnate. You need to rest in order not to burn out.

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in Will.”

- Vince Lombardi

Client Story

I had a client whose power to make decisions was blocked by past experience. Her Will to move forward stopped by her confusion and pain. She had no one left — her trauma caused her to over-share. Hoping someone would empathize. That's when she found me.

After taking her through guided journeys into her unconscious we found the core wound. She knew WHAT happened. These journeys allowed her to make sense of HOW it affected her and WHY that was important.

The more she healed — the more people she found that also wanted to help her. Again, she found herself supported by others that reflected her healing journey.

The Psychosomatic journey of the Unconscious and how it gets trapped in the Body. The Will is the ability to move forward. She did so, through the hurt, and gained the that treasure within. Dependability. Showing herself, she was strong enough. Now she will endure and can rely on that inner knowing and strength.

Here's what she had to say:

"For the last 10 years I tried traditional counseling through insurance. Speaking with someone for an hour or two once a month - I never got anywhere. It wasn't until I worked with Benji that I gained insight and found answers.'

'After 6 months I have a better understanding of the things effecting my situation. Little by little I am learning to integrate all I've learned and apply it. Developing the practices Benji shared has helped me discover who I am. While continuing to find more information that applies to my situation has also been helpful. I no longer feel I'm just muddling through life."

Will Over Others?

In our modern world we cannot move forward without talking about the Will to dominate. This lives in the disconnect our culture breeds. When mindfulness is nothing but a strategy to give you an edge over others. Where it's your Will against theirs.

The division (caused by our societies) has left a bitter taste in the mouth of many met with the imbalanced Will. Sometimes this drives you to think that's what you need to get ahead. Sometimes it breaks down your Will completely. We, as a culture, have forgotten what it's like to live as a community.

Some of the nicest people we meet, we never see the whites of their eyes. Our society doesn't have to be a battle. But so many of the countries of the West are dependent upon war and exploitation... How can that not leave an imprint on the minds of its citizens.

Human beings (since the dawn of written history) have been going toe to toe - pitting Will against Will. But what if I offered an alternative to the battles of Will. What if there was a different directive for your Will. Your Will as Divine Will.

“Will is the dynamic soul-force”

- Albert Pike

Materialism

When the world we live is simply a backdrop to our own personal narratives, it's easy to lose touch and impose the Will of the individual. When the world is a dead thing you can claim, why not take it for all it’s got. The world won't care THE EARTH can't feel...

These are the problems and ideas that cause this power to become imbalanced. Let me let you in on a secret. The World is Alive! Humans (Homo Sapiens) have seen the world this way for 99.83% of our existence. Only in the last 500 hundred years did we start to view the world as a mechanism. Thomas Hobbes (amongst others), during the Scientific Revolution (16th century) promoted this idea. A nail in the coffin of human mental health.

“Life in the state of Nature is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short.”

- Thomas Hobbes

We have been alive for 300,000 years practicing and interacting with a living world. The rise in mental health disorders is the by-product of our materialistic world view. There is an underlying impression to Psychology - telling you that everything in your head you have to deal with alone. That it's yours and you need to figure it out.

Let me ask you this...

If a flower sitting on your windowsill begins to wilt. What do you do? Do you reason that there is something wrong with the flower? That it has "Wilting Syndrome." Or do you take its environment into account? Psychology is just starting to do this, but it needs to happen in context. The World is Alive just as you are alive. Not everything in your mind is yours.

I want you to see where I am coming from. When you can see the world in which you live as a living matrix of interconnectivity there is no YOU vs. THEM. The battle of Wills ceases to exist. The word Ubuntu (Zulu & Xhosa languages of Southern Africa) means "I am because WE are."

The concept of "us against the world" is a modern one - separating the subject from the object. The English language is notorious for doing this. Positing "nouns" automatically separates you from your surroundings. This would have been a foreign concept for 99.83% of human existence. This belief does NOT make us more intelligent. It is destroying us. One small idea has ripped us completely out of context within the world we live.

The Living Matrix

Our Human Condition is rot with a battle of Wills. You can see it when you drive. Corporate career ladders. Old paradigms of marketing (close at any cost). People fighting over items on Black Friday. But there's another way...

When you can view the world in which you live as interconnected. When you can see the loss of a peer as your own loss. When you can empathize for another (including beings outside of your own species). The world will look different. Your intentions will change. Your Will aligns to something beyond you. And the stress of feeling like it's all up to you dissolves into a web of support. An ecosystem beyond an individual’s comprehension that is teeming with life.

You feel Loved. The feeling of Love isn't an accident. It arises when you're able to bask in the beauty of existence. Being able to see beauty is directly correlated with feeling Love. This means destroying personal gain over the good of All. Because your desires at the cost of others is not beautiful.

Now don't get me wrong. We all need to have our needs met. Can you take a moment to tap into what those needs actually are... and can you find a way to fill them being of service to a greater whole? To make gains just for their own sake is status-seeking. This stems from a need to be seen as worthy in the eyes of the world. When you see the world as ALIVE... You're already worthy. Everything you do from their will emphasize your worth and how that can benefit everyone.

“Animism is the normative consciousness for the majority of human history and across various cultures.”

- Josh Schrei

Your Will

Your Will is not the end all be all. It will shift and change on this journey just as the thoughts in your mind shift and change with the seasons. Your Will will grow when it’s bound by the good of everything around you. When the world forges a new story from the ashes of materialism. When the dead rise from the Earth and awaken as living, breathing entities. Ready to lend a helping hand. Steering our trajectory in a different direction. A direction where we ALL will thrive.

The direction in which we are heading is not sustainable. So, any goal made with the programs, expectations, and pressures of this society is not sustainable. Align your Will with a greater force. The force of Life! Your Will is powerful.
