The Law of Attraction Lied to You
and hooks might be doing the same
Let Me Tell You a Story
I manifested my first client after a launch I did on Alchemy. I wrote it down every day, visualized it like my life depended on it. I wanted to create a career helping people while working from home so I could spend more time with my son.
Here’s the part no one talks about: I also posted daily, wrote every single day, and cold DMed people to join my FB group to pull it off. (I wouldn't go this route if I were you). So was it “manifested”? Or did I just want it bad enough to rearrange my entire life?
The Law of Attraction sells us the dream: Think good thoughts. Stay high vibe. Match the frequency. Meanwhile, your rent is late, your heart’s heavy, and you’re stuck wondering what’s wrong with you. Maybe nothing. Maybe your “blocks” are just a normal part of growing into what you want. Maybe you’re not broken. Maybe you’re already doing the work— though it’s not instant.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying things cannot magickally fall in your lap.
I've had it happen!
When my wife and I first moved to WNC. I intended to work in Mental Health. At a boy's treatment facility close to the program, I had gone to as a young man. Much of the wisdom I learned from my instructor's had a deep impact on me into my adulthood. I thought I'd pay it forward.
We both landed interviews for jobs. My wife got a job at a sushi shop. I heard no call back. Odd, I thought. I know I'm supposed to be doing this. One day I dropped her off at the shop and there stood a childhood friend waiting at the door for my wife to unlock it. (Complete serendipity).
We chatted and moved into a spare bedroom deep into the mountains. It happened to be a 10-minute walk from the facility I was trying to get a job at. One of the other roommates worked there and put in a good word for me. I got the job and lived within walking distance in the middle of nowhere (which was great because we only had one car at the time).
My point is life has nuance. Perfect circumstances can happen instantly, but don't expect it to happen every time. Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination.
Let’s Talk About Hooks
You know the ones: “5 reasons your content isn’t growing (you’re not gonna like #3).” You click. You’re curious. You get pulled in. It works. But here’s the plot hole—most of the time, it’s not actually reason #3. It’s that you’re tired, unsure, or overthinking. None of which fit neatly in a grabby headline.
I’ve written hooks that've gotten hundreds likes (sometimes thousands). But no sales. No replies. No new clients. I’ve also posted plain, quiet reflections that spoke to one person—and that person reached out. The magick wasn’t in the hook. It was in the honesty underneath it. Are you writing to get people in? Or to call the right ones home?
The Law of Attraction says you get what you think about. But I’ve thought about love, peace, and purpose—and still ended up in heartbreak and burnout. Not because I wasn’t aligned. But because I was learning how to hold the very things I asked for.
Sometimes the Universe says, “Not yet.” Not to punish you. But to prepare you.
So What Do You Do?
We use hooks, sure. But make them human. Write with care, not fear. Speak with depth, not tricks. And if you’re manifesting your dream life, don’t skip the small, unsexy steps. They might be the part that actually works.
Your life isn’t a sales funnel. You’re not a conversion rate. You’re a whole world in motion.
When you synthesize the real Law of Attraction with honest hooks, something powerful happens.
You stop trying to trick people into paying attention—and start drawing them in with clarity, emotion, and truth. Your content becomes magnetic not because it’s flashy, but because it feels right.
That’s the real attraction. Not what you say to get someone’s click—but what you carry that makes them stay.
“Trying to think positive and ‘raise your vibration’ when strong emotions that need to be accepted, felt, and released, is like putting a small Band-Aid on a gaping wound.”
Let that be enough.
Your Guide,
Benji Faun
PS: If this landed, reply and tell me—what are you manifesting right now, and what are you tired of pretending about?
